Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement
Introduction
This statement sets out the actions Air Land & Sea Medical Ltd (referred to as the "Company" or "we") takes to understand potential modern slavery risks related to its business, and the controls and procedures we have in place to ensure there is no slavery or human trafficking in our own business or in our wider supply chain.
As a supplier of medicines and medical equipment, we recognize that we have a responsibility to take a robust approach to slavery and human trafficking.
The Company is committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking in all its forms, throughout the business and in its corporate activities, and to ensuring that its supply chains are free from slavery and human trafficking.
Our Company structure and supply chains
This statement covers the activities of the Company. We are committed to maintaining high ethical standards throughout our business and in all our relationships with third parties in our supply chain, and to complying with all applicable legislation, regulations, codes of conduct and industry best practice.
About the Company
Air Land Sea Medical supplies professional medical kits, medicines and equipment to maritime operations, airline fleets and humanitarian missions worldwide. We are headquartered in Florida, with operations in the United Kingdom, where Air Land & Sea Medical Ltd holds an MHRA Wholesale Dealer's Licence (WDA(H) 61194) and a Controlled Drugs Licence (20236).
Our supply chain primarily consists of authorized pharmaceutical manufacturers, licensed wholesalers and medical equipment suppliers, together with logistics and freight partners. Most of these are located in countries where the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking is low. Where we deal with suppliers in higher-risk countries, we apply more robust controls and due diligence.
To reduce labor and human rights risks, particularly around fair and safe employment practices and modern slavery and human trafficking, the Company is committed to:
- Providing awareness training on modern slavery and human rights to all staff.
- Assessing the risk posed by new and existing suppliers, and reviewing that assessment regularly.
- Only working with suppliers who can show due regard for health and safety, modern slavery and human rights.
- Taking action, including ending the relationship, where a supplier does not meet our standards.
Countries of operation and supply
We operate directly in the United States and the United Kingdom, and supply customers internationally through a network of partners and suppliers. When assessing whether particular activities or countries are high risk in relation to slavery or human trafficking, we consider:
- The type of product or service being supplied.
- The country in which the supplier operates.
- Whether the supplier is licensed or regulated by a recognized authority.
- The findings of our due diligence and any previous dealings with the supplier.
Relevant policies
We operate the following policies, which describe our approach to identifying modern slavery risks and the steps we take to prevent slavery and human trafficking in our operations:
- Whistleblowing: We encourage all employees, agency workers, contractors, customers and other business partners to report any concerns about our direct activities or our supply chains, including any circumstances that may increase the risk of slavery or human trafficking. Concerns can be raised in confidence, without fear of retaliation, by contacting info@airlandseamed.com.
- Employee Code of Conduct: Sets out the behavior expected of employees when representing the Company, including when managing our supply chain.
- Supplier standards: We expect suppliers to provide safe working conditions, treat workers with dignity and respect, and act ethically and within the law in their use of labor. Serious breaches will lead to the end of the business relationship.
- Recruitment: We only use reputable employment agencies, and we verify the right to work and take references for all new employees.
- Anti-bribery and corruption: Prohibits facilitation payments and kickbacks, and sets standards for hospitality, gifts and the reporting of suspicious activity.
Due diligence
We carry out due diligence before taking on new suppliers, and we regularly review existing suppliers. Our due diligence includes:
- Mapping our supply chain to assess particular product or geographical risks of modern slavery and human trafficking.
- Checking that pharmaceutical suppliers hold the appropriate licenses and authorizations, as required for a licensed wholesaler.
- Evaluating the modern slavery and human trafficking risks of each new supplier.
- Carrying out more detailed checks where general risks are identified.
Performance indicators
We measure our effectiveness by:
- The proportion of staff who have completed modern slavery training each year.
- The proportion of new suppliers assessed before they join our supply chain.
- The number of concerns reported, and how they were resolved.
- Annual reviews of our policies and procedures in line with current legislation, regulation, guidance and best practice.
Training
We require all staff to complete training on modern slavery. The training covers:
- How our purchasing practices can affect supply chain conditions.
- How to identify the signs of slavery and human trafficking.
- What initial steps to take if slavery or human trafficking is suspected, and how to escalate concerns within the Company.
- What external help is available.
- What steps the Company should take if suppliers or contractors do not meet our standards, including removing them from our supply chain.
The Company is committed to continuous improvement across our internal processes, business practices and engagement with our supply chain. We will continue to work to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms does not take place within the Company or within our supply chain.
